If you haven't enabled synchronization, the first thing you see at the
top of the about page (which opens up on install and after every
update), will be us asking you to register. This might be enough, but we could also put a dialog over the sidebar asking you to register the first time you install it.

On Tue, Jul 7, 2009 at 8:44 PM, electronic Max <emax@csail.mit.edu> wrote:
Are all privacy and security concerns clearly spelled out?
- Um, no. We need a Privacy Policy.
Are there guidelines on what they want to see? Will this interfere with our logging for the user study?

It sounds like they'll be fine with whatever we're doing with the data as long as we're clear about what it is. Here's the text:

This is an aspect of a clear and accurate description, but such an
important one that we feel it deserves specific mention. Many very
useful and well-written add-ons manipulate some form of user data, or
can present security hazards if misused; they are welcome on the public
portion of AMO, but they must make it very clear to users what risks
they might encounter, and what they can do to protect themselves.

Has the add-on been well-tested, and is it free of obvious or serious defects?
- Yes! When nominating, we should point out that we already have a ton of users.
- When debug mode is turned off, we don't push anything out to the error console, right?
This is probably not working right. We should review this soon. Error console logging slows things down dramatically.

We can probably just strip a lot of it out. No need to leave a lot of it in there.
Do the add-on and add-on author both treat the user respectfully?
- Be nice!
We are always nice. However, one thing that we do NOT do yet is localize for languages other than English. Will this get us in trouble?

I think we should be okay. They seem to take whatever you have as long as it's useful and well tested.
Is the add-on useful to an appropriately wide portion of Firefox's users?
- We sure hope so.
Is the add-on free of unlicensed trademarks or copyrights?
I think so too.
Once we have these things, we can probably ask our groupies to go and review it, then submit it for review to become public. Then we win :)
